The Grace Church Choir Summer Tour 2012
If Music be the food of Love……Sing on!
This is the theme of our tour this summer. We are visiting Prague, Vienna and Salzburg offering a program of great Anglican Church repertoire, a few regional traditional favorites, two Spirituals and a few surprises!
The Choir is offering a repertoire of Beethoven, Burleigh, Byrd, Durufle, Mozart, Palestrina, Stanford, Tallis and a few others including two of our favorite Psalms set to Anglican Chant.
On Monday we toured Terrezinstadt Concentration Camp and sang a program in the chilling and moving 4th Courtyard built by the Nazi’s to hold men in the camp. Tuesday we sang at the great Baroque Church of Saint Nicholas in the Lesser Town, Prague. On Thursday we sang a concert in the great Cathedra Church of Vienna, Saint Stephens. On Friday we sang in the beautiful and resonant Baroque Chapel of Melk Abbey.
Psalm 24, Barnby
Durufle, Ubi Caritas
Beethoven, Die Himmel
Stanford, Justorum
Rose, Love’s endeavour
DeCormier, The Virgin Mary had a baby boy
Psalm 150, Talbot
On our final Sunday, we will sing at the Mass with the Choir of the Cathedral in Salzburg accompanied by their Orchestra in offering Mozart’s C Major Missa brevis, K. 220 (Sparrow Mass) as well as offering four motets on our own.
Please have a listen to the Choir singing at Melk Abbey, we really were honored to sing in this beautiful chapel and enjoyed the acoustics very much. Click the MP3 file…….Melk MP3
