Dear Choir Families,
Greetings from the North of Holland and the Land of Amazing 17th and 18th century organs! Where has the summer gone? I hope everyone has had a rest filled, healthy, fun and safe summer.

I am so excited about the new school year and season about to begin and can’t wait to see you all and catch up on all the summer adventures.

Please check the website: www.gracechurchnyc.org and the Choir Family Secure Area for all the information you may need for the new season:

We haven’t published in paper the Choir Handbook for some years. It is located on the Choir Family Secure Area Home Page through a special button on the right side, there you can read or download for your files.

Choir Camp takes place for all who have returned in time on the Tuesday after Labor Day. The schedule is staggered for Novices, Juniors and Seniors, so check your appropriate schedule for the exact times. Grace Church School is busy preparing for the new year that day, please enter and exit only from the Church Side, the Parish House Door at 802 Broadway.

The Day ends with a Parent Orientation Session and a Cookout for everyone.
There is nothing to bring, just yourselves and families to enjoy catching up on the activities of the summer, ask questions, a fun meal and then home early to prepare for school the next day.

Parents, there are lots of fun activities and opportunities for volunteering through out the season. If everyone takes on one thing we will have everything covered quickly and no one need be overwhelmed. Have fun working together to be part of creating the music! It’s fun!

First Sunday of the New Season: Is required for everyone, please check the schedule for the arrival times, everyone will be vested and take part in this special homecoming service on Sunday 9 September.

Senior Choristers, we will be singing in a wonderful performance of Mahler’s 8th Symphony at Carnegie Hall in November. Ask your parents for permission to download a recording and listen to it. It is a colossal and getting the big picture will make your part in this amazing work more fun. I love the recordings by the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra of Holland. Mahler actually heard them play many of his works in their beautiful concert hall in Amsterdam.

Here are a few photos of moments in my summer since the Concert Tour. I’ve had so much fun preparing new music, reading, visiting with colleagues and friends and having nice walks in the country. I can’t wait to see and hear you all!

Be safe, have fun and enjoy these final days of summer.
With all my love, Patrick
