Dear Choir Families,

HAPPY NEW YEAR! With all my love and prayers for everyone for a happy, safe and healthy New Year!

I hope everyone is having a beautiful Holiday Season. If you are traveling I hope it is calm and safe for you all. I’m just back from a short visit with my parents and a trip to see my goddaughter in Wilmington, Delaware. How time flies! Now, I’m in the office preparing for Amahl and the Night Visitors this Sunday at 4:00 p.m.

Come support Ian Rotheroe who is singing the title role in this beautiful short opera about the 3 Wise Men. It was commissioned by NBC and first performed by the NBC Opera Theatre on December 24, 1951, in New York City at NBC studio 8H in Rockefeller Center, the same studio where it was broadcast live on television from that venue as the debut production of the Hallmark Hall of Fame. It was the first opera specifically composed for television in America.
It is wonderful in the space of Grace Church and is very child friendly.

4:00 Sunday 4 January, Free Admission. It will last just over an hour.

NEXT WEEK:
We are back on schedule – except!

I have Jury Duty. My hope is to have it re scheduled, but I won’t know until I go down to the court on Tuesday morning.

+Morning Rehearsals prior to school will take place as scheduled.

+We will have to play it by ear on the potential Voice Classes with Max van Egmond who arrives on Tuesday afternoon.

+Novice Girls Rehearsal on Tuesday 6 January is cancelled and will start up on 13 January at 3:20 p.m.

+Junior Boy and Girl Rehearsal will take place on Tuesday at 5:00 until 6:30 p.m. There is no Evensong, we will be preparing for Dr. Rose’s arrival and the concert at the end of the month.
Drop off and Pick up is the Music Room.

+Wed and Thursday After School Vocal Coaching are cancelled and will start up on January 14th.

I’m sorry about this but hopefully Tuesday morning I can get everything re scheduled with the court and when Dr. van Egmond arrives on Tuesday evening I will see what we might organize for later in the week. Some programs might occur on Wednesday and Thursday during the vocal coaching time and there might be the possibility of something on Saturday around 10 a.m. I’ll let you know more as it comes together.

*CHOIR TOUR INFORMATION: Please get your deposits in! We will be ramping up into high gear now to prepare the music and details of the tour.

UPDATES since Thanksgiving….
1. If you haven’t paid your first deposit please get it to PA asap or check in with him.
2. If you want to buy into the air package through Peter’s Way we need to know asap so we can confirm the persons and block of seats for that flight.
3. If your chorister is traveling alone on the trip we need to know three things:
a. Have you assigned them to a choir family going on the trip for travel and chaperoning?
b. Will they need someone assigned to chaperone them (not a problem, we are just counting right now to plan)
c. Will they be buying the air package? (any chorister being chaperoned by staff will need to buy into the air package and travel with the staff)

Old Information:
The First Deposit is due in the amount of $500.00 for each person going on the tour.
Please make your check out to GRACE CHURCH IN NEW YORK, Memo: Choir Tour Deposit One and list who it is for. These checks should be given to P. Allen.
If you have not done so and would like to request financial aid for your chorister, please talk with P. Allen.
Please indicate on your deposit whether your chorister and or family member will purchase the group air travel package so we can plan for that. If you do not indicate this we will assume you are making your own travel arrangements to and from France.
The work in progress Itinerary is attached to this email. Have a look, be ready to chime in with your thoughts in the New Year. We will want your feedback.

*AS THE YEAR IS COMING TO AN END…please look around the house and make sure you cash all choir checks you have received. When the books are closed at the audit for each operating budget year checks can no longer be redeemed or replaced.
