Kurt Ison is one of Australia’s leading organists. He studied to post-graduate level at the Sydney University Conservatorium of Music and has also had several private lessons at St Gervais, Paris with Madame Heurtmatte and at San Petronio, Bologna with Professor Tamminga.

He has given solo organ recitals at places such as Westminster Abbey, Notre Dame Cathedral, Paris, the Marktkirche, Wiesbaden, the Basilica of S Rita, Turin, Hong Kong Cultural Center, Sydney Town Hall and the Sydney Opera House. In April 2015 he gave his first concert in the USA at the Washington National Cathedral.

Kurt has played a wide array of historic organs all over Western Europe as part of an ongoing series of research projects. He has recorded several compact discs including music by Sweelinck and North German composers on the specialist organ at the University of Auckland, New Zealand.

Kurt is Organist and Director of Music at several Sydney churches and organ teacher at a number of private schools.

More recently he has received recognition as a composer. J Butz Musikverlag of Bonn, Germany has published his “Missa Brevis” for upper voices and organ. It was premiered at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris and is now regularly sung by the Mädchenchor at Aachen Cathedral, Germany.
