1. This SATURDAY, 11:30 a.m., Senior Boys and parents meeting with potential 4th grade GO Boys to charter a new class of GO Junior Boy Choristers. Enter 802 Broadway, come to the Church.
2. THIS SUNDAY, 4:00 p.m. Evensong with the annual offering of Amahl and the Night Visitors. Chanler Shamamian will sing the title role. The choristers are not singing, they should come, bring their families and friends to this special musical offering – it’s fun and child appropriate.
3. The Choir Steering Committee will have their annual Winter meeting on Thursday 19 January at 6:00 p.m. in the Church Reception Room.
4. The Fourth Annual Concert of Music for Treble Voices with The Whiting of Novices will take place on Sunday 29 January at 4:00 p.m.
Seniors are invited to participate as “senior mentors” or just attend to support and enjoy the work of their colleagues with their families and friends.

5. There has been a rumor that the Choir Trip for the summer of 2012 is not happening.
As far as I know it is ON! I’m waiting for a little more information from our Travel Agent about the concert details and we can have an information/organizational meeting. I hope before the first week of February. Attached is my roster at this time. Please review and let me know of any changes or additional information you might be ready to add.

Families of Novice and Junior Choristers please look ahead on your schedules for the week prior to the concert. It is a week of extra rehearsals and opportunity for all the Novice and Junior Choristers! See below:
The “Whiting” of Novices……..
This is an old tradition whereby new choristers are admitted to the choir after demonstrating a period of reliable attendance and musical development during their first term of study. Each new chorister is “whited”- the surplice or white worship garment is put on over their black cassock or working garment and each is given their own copy of the Hymnal.
The Novice Chorister becomes a Junior Chorister at this ceremony.
This tradition is practiced by many choirs with in the Anglican tradition.

You have options.
New Juniors as our Novices will be called after 29 January have the option to begin participating in all activities on the Junior Chorister Schedule. The operative word is OPTION. I think for some it can be too disruptive mid year to change their schedule, so if they continue with the Novice Schedule that is great, they will work on the same repertoire as the juniors and be fine. However, they are also welcome to start attending Tuesday afternoon rehearsals and the Thursday or Friday morning practices.
Please have a look at the Junior Boy and Junior Girl Schedules posted on the home page of the Choir Family Secure Area of the website so you can see what is possible.
Last but not least – ask lots of questions, your questions are very creative and open new doors and possibilities while we continue to polish the opportunities and raise the quality of our offerings for our community.
