Greetings everyone, I hope you all had a gentle and fun first full week back in the swing of things.
How did the fall season get here so quickly?
What a great start up! The musical work has been so beautiful and the fellowship so much fun!
We have an amazing group of novice choristers coming together next week for their first novice rehearsals.
The Junior Choristers will also start and have their first rehearsals.
SCHEDULE CHANGE: it turned out that the best day for Novice boys is Friday after school. SO…….Friday after school vocal coaching is now on Thursdays! No worries or stress if Wednesdays or Thursdays don’t work for your senior chorister to have after school vocal coaching! There are always alternatives. Just email or talk with me and it will get worked out!
NEW DEVELOPMENT: We are exploring the opportunity for High School Age young people to be part of our choral offerings. We have talked about this for years. Several guidelines have inspired us: (1) We do not want to disturb the quality and tradition of our current offerings (2) The new offering needs to be inclusive of all High School age persons no matter what school they attend (3) We need to grow this new opportunity within the resources at hand while fulfilling this goal to develop a program that nurtures young people at this age in the Grace Church community. The Choir Steering Committee will be reviewing the plans for this new offering at their meeting in the coming week and more details will be communicated after that meeting as we see what might be accomplished. Again, this initiative will cause no change in any of our existing offerings or traditions. If you have any ideas or concerns or energy towards this you are invited to be involved!
SPECIAL SUNDAY: 21 September: The Girls’ Choir of the Episcopal Cathedral in Ottawa will join our Girls at the 11 a.m. service to offer the music that day. It’s going to be fun! They will also join us for lunch. Due to the number at lunch, it will take place in the GCS Dining Room rather than the music room. The Senior Girls will have their 1:00 – 3:00 rehearsal (perhaps starting a little late) as scheduled that day.
