Greetings Everyone, here we are already at the end of the first week of December!
I hope everyone had a blessed and safe Thanksgiving Holiday!
1. SUNDAY MORNING – NOVICE & JUNIOR CHORISTER SUNDAY.
This Sunday all Novices and Juniors (REQUIRED) will be singing and leading the music in the service just like our Senior Choristers do.
Since there are so many we have a seating issue – so that you can place yourself to have a good view of your choristers, this is the plan:
Novice Boys will sit in the front pews on the right side of the church (right as you enter from Broadway)
Novice Girls will sit in the front pews on the left side of the church (left as you enter from Broadway)
Junior Boys will sit in the choir stalls on the right side of the church
Junior Girls will sit in the choir stalls on the left side of the church
Senior mentors (those senior boys and girls not in the play and with parents permission will be spread around through all the choristers to help lead and support our younger colleagues)
Call is 9:45 a.m. in the Music Room, please enter from 802 Broadway as the school is closed on Sunday.
The service begins at 11 a.m. and will end around 12:20 p.m.
2. THE CHOIR ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PARTY: It isn’t to late to RSVP and to sign up.
It’s such a lovely way to enjoy some holiday cheers, a great meal and enjoy one another during such a busy season. Come and jump into the fun and joy!

3. December 6th represents the end of the 2015 portion of the choir season for our Novice and Junior Choristers. All rehearsals are completed until January. There is one more musical offering that takes place during the GCS School Day…
4. COMMUNITY CAROL SING……This annual tradition takes place in the Church from 12:15 – 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday 9 December. The choristers are sent to the Chantry at 11:00 a.m. to have a festive lunch of “pie” pizza. Following their lunch, they vest and sing carols in the church for the public at 12:15. Following this, they return to class. Bring Family, Friends and Colleagues, it is a lovely and special holiday tradition.
All volunteer slots are signed up, but there is always room for more parents to enjoy pitching in and all the fun. Write me if you are interested!
5. Please join me in thanking Meaghan Cheung for chairing our communications of condolences this fall to our families who have suffered so much loss. She has offered a very special ministry to our families grieving and on behalf of us all.
6. The Thanksgiving Pie/Chocolate Sale was a great success.
You raised just around $5,500.00 in profit from your efforts!
A fantastic and great effort by everyone.
Please join me in thanking our committee and all who helped:

FACE BOOK: Did you know there is a Music at Grace Church Facebook page? There is. We use it to get the word out about all the musical offerings that take place at the Church especially those of the choirs!
HELP US build the community of followers and listeners to the choirs – FRIEND THE Music at Grace Church page and let the word spread
RECRUITING is never over!
We have an amazing group of novice choristers for the fall term but…
If anyone asks, it is never too late to join the choir and they should reach out to me at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
For entering 4th graders it is also not too late to join as novices, we have had good luck at getting them up to speed quickly as your children are the best teachers. What schedule a 4th grader might follow would depend on the boy and his family.
CAROLING AT THE UNION SQUARE CHRISTMAS MARKET:
Thank you for your patience. After going through all the schedules and looking at the possibilities it just isn’t possible for us to schedule caroling at the market this year.
There is always next year! Stay safe and healthy!

SPECIAL LISTENING PROJECT:
Please find a time to watch and listen to these Youtube excerpts. They are from some of our fellow choirs around the world and are lovely and fun. They can help give us all a better idea of our tradition and celebrate the 1000 year old heritage that we participate in. I was in Wells this week and really, the church and choral tradition is just shy of it’s 1000th birthday! This year is the 120th birthday for our choir foundation.
